Being in nature is always a very special feeling for me, which is why I have been backpacking alone in the wilderness for many years, lasting several weeks. I invest a lot of time in advance planning regarding provisions, equipment, and accessibility to remote natural areas.
During my tours, I spend the nights in my ultralight tent. Along the way, I capture the beauty, but also the transience, of natural processes. Behind every picture lies its own unique story, because harsh weather and other difficulties often thwart my plans. For example, to document a glacier collapse can sometimes take several hours to capture a single one on camera. The uncertainty makes it a unique experience.
FAQ
What camera equipment do I use during my backpacking trips?
I use the Sony Alpha 6600, the DJI Mini 3 Pro and DJI Action 3, because they are relatively light, handy and take up little space in the backpack, which is ideal for long hikes.
How do I protect myself during my tours?
As a backup, I use a Garmin inReach Mini 2, which is a satellite communication system with an SOS function. I also have international insurance.
What exactly am I photographing or filming?
I document my adventurous hikes in the wild mountains of the polar regions, focusing on the glaciers and ice worlds.
How do I get around in nature?
Packed with my backpack, which contains everything I need for 2-3 weeks of self-sufficient outdoor living, I hike through the terrain alone. Sometimes I also use a packraft to cross large rivers or lakes.
Will I be sponsored?
No, I am not sponsored, I use my own equipment and have free decision-making options.
